Most of you who are familiar with Yesterday Store will have seen the cross-stitch duck and fish we have on display at the shop. We get questions about purchasing them all the time - to which we always have to reply that they aren't for sale, as they were a special gift from my friend Maddie (@thecruelgoblin).

Well, we have some exciting news! You now have the opportunity to make your very own. Join us for a cozy evening at the store to learn the timeless craft of cross-stitch directly from the maker behind our favourite storefront pieces.

We are keeping our class numbers quite small to ensure everyone gets plenty of hands-on help, so get in early to reserve your spot!

• Time: 6 PM - 8 PM (2-hour workshop)

• Price: $95 per person

What You’ll Learn & Create

Absolutely no prior embroidery or sewing experience is necessary - this is a welcoming space for complete beginners, as well as experienced crafters looking to pick up a new skill. Maddie will guide you through the foundational steps of cross-stitching, ensuring you leave with the confidence and skills to stitch away at home.

During the 2-hour session, our goal is to get you entirely comfortable with the technique and well on your way with your piece. Cross-stitch is a wonderfully slow, meditative craft, so while you likely won't finish the entire design on the night, you will leave with a significant portion completed and the exact know-how needed to finish it up at your own pace at home.

Tickets & Materials

Included in the $95 ticket price is a Cross-Stitch Pack (valued at $65) containing everything you need. On the night, you'll have the choice of creating either the iconic Fish or the Duck design.

To keep the creative energy flowing, your ticket also includes complimentary sake and tea throughout the evening.

About Your Tutor: Maddie

Maddie (@thecruelgoblin) is a prolific cross-stitcher who was taught the craft by her grandmother. She draws a lot of inspiration from traditional embroidery, tattoo flash art, Australiana, and florals, bringing a beautiful, modern edge to a classic technique.

• 7 days or more before the workshop: Full refund or transfer to a future date.

• Within 7 days of the workshop: Tickets are non-refundable as materials are prepared in advance and spots are strictly limited. However, your ticket is fully transferable to a friend if you cannot make it!
