Craftsmanship & Texture

True to the Futagami aesthetic, the Sun trivet celebrates the "Ihada" (sand-cast) process. Rather than polishing away the evidence of its origin, the foundry leaves the surface with a "crude" sand-cast texture. This results in a tactile, non-slip finish that feels grounded and artisanal, offering a sophisticated contrast to the precise, sharp lines of the sunburst pattern.

Drawing on a legacy that dates back to 1897 in Takaoka, Japan, Futagami pieces are designed to be lifelong companions. Crafted from solid, lead-free brass, the Sun trivet is an evolving object. Through heat, air, and daily use, the initial golden luster will gradually transform into a deep, characteristic patina.
