Futagami Trivet Sun

Regular price

The "Sun" trivet is a radiant exploration of geometric symmetry and thermal utility. Designed by Masanori Oji in collaboration with the venerable Futagami foundry, this piece elevates a protective kitchen essential into a celestial work of art. Its radiating silhouette is not merely decorative; the open-frame design allows for optimal airflow, efficiently shielding your surfaces from the heat of pots and platters straight from the stove.

Craftsmanship & Texture

True to the Futagami aesthetic, the Sun trivet celebrates the "Ihada" (sand-cast) process. Rather than polishing away the evidence of its origin, the foundry leaves the surface with a "crude" sand-cast texture. This results in a tactile, non-slip finish that feels grounded and artisanal, offering a sophisticated contrast to the precise, sharp lines of the sunburst pattern.

A Material That Ages With You

Drawing on a legacy that dates back to 1897 in Takaoka, Japan, Futagami pieces are designed to be lifelong companions. Crafted from solid, lead-free brass, the Sun trivet is an evolving object. Through heat, air, and daily use, the initial golden luster will gradually transform into a deep, characteristic patina. This natural oxidation ensures that no two pieces will ever look the same, reflecting the unique history of your home and kitchen.

  • Dimensions: 150mm x 12mm
  • Material: Solid Brass

Note: Brass is a living material. While it can be polished to restore its initial shine, we recommend embracing the natural aging process, allowing the piece to develop a rich, matte character that deepens over time.
