Futagami Brass Bottle Opener - Waku (Frame)
The "Waku" (Frame) bottle opener is a study in functional minimalism. Designed by Masanori Oji and cast by the historic Futagami foundry, this piece transforms a mundane kitchen tool into a sculptural object. Its rectangular silhouette provides a comfortable, ergonomic grip while maintaining a striking presence on a bar cart or dining table.
Craftsmanship & Texture
What sets this opener apart is the intentional contrast in its finish. The exterior surfaces are meticulously hairline-finished for a smooth, refined touch, while the interior reveals the crude sand-cast texture - a nod to the traditional "Ihada" casting process.
A Material That Ages With You
Founded in 1897 in Takaoka, Japan, Futagami originally specialized in Buddhist altar equipment. Today, they apply that same heritage to contemporary livingware. Because it is crafted from solid, lead-free brass, the "Waku" will not stay bright forever. Instead, it develops a rich, dark patina over years of use, documenting the touch of your hands and the passage of time.
